The Infinity IL30’s are overall great speakers. The price paid wasn’t mine-the wife bought them as a surpise gift. The new CMMD woofers are very light and rigid and can handle plenty of power without buckling. The tweeters are pretty good for the most part but I found the EMIT-R tweeters on my previous Infinity Reference 6’s much better.
10/11/2014 · IIRC the the last infinity to use ribbons was kappa series (kappa 9.) They used an emit-R similar to that found in neat, genesis and VMPS now. That speaker had a lot of good points about it. Alas, without Floyd Toole and Arnie Nudell, Infinity has changed designs multiple times since. There is a nice website devoted to infinity here:
